We have always enjoyed camping and hunting in the mountains of far Northern California. As our family grew, so did the loads we had to pack on our backs in order to get us all in to our favorite lakes and hunting camps. Horses and mules became a fun and necessary means to get us all there. As we accumulated a herd of horses and mules, we needed more tack and gear, of the right kind, to make this possible. We needed shoes on their feet to provide protection, and traction on steep trails. We needed hay to feed them. Why not put them to work doing something we enjoy and plan to do anyway?
